Everything SPF, sunscreen, UVA and UVB rays.

So the sun is out here in Ireland and I am so happy to see it! When the sun shines though you have to be careful with your skin.

Did you know the secret to anti-aging is sun protection? Using an SPF in your daily moisturiser every month on the year will help your skin from the sun damage. Even when its raining or there are clouds there are UV rays

For your face, find a moisturiser for your skin type and make sure it has an SPF. If you want to wear a foundation or a tinted moisturiser look for an SPF in that too. To note: having an SPF in a foundation will cause a white flashback in photography. So when your out at night or getting pictures you don't need to have an SPF in your foundation (see I am always thinking on makeup and what will look good in pics!haha)

There seems to be a million SPF's out there. I'm not good with making decisions so when brands come out with sprays, creams and sticks I find it hard to pick the best one.

What we need to know is no sunscreen will 100% block UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are what cause sunburn and UVA rays are what cause premature skin aging and both of these can contribute to skin cancer.

SPF of 15 blocks 93% of UV rays. SPF 30- 97% and SPF 50- 98%.

There is a misconception that if you have a darker skin-tone that you don't have to wear an SPF. We all need protection from the UV rays. Dark skinned or light.

The bottom line is you have to apply an SPF every 2 hours and a thick layer. Liberally is the way. Don't lie out in the sun at any time without it. Think on when your older and with all them lovely sun spots. The sun provides the much needed Vitamin D but we have to be careful with our skin.  If you have very young babies/children a good sunhat never harmed anyone!

Enjoy this fab weather we are getting!xxx
